Background Information

Misleading Advertising – Mobility Freedom Ltd T/A My Mobility Shop is in breach of the UK Advertising Standards Code for making unsubstantiated efficacy claims for a circulation massager on their website: http://www.mymobilityshop.co.uk/electro-flex-circulation-booster-special-price/p4640?gclid=CKT7i_Lw6K0CFUNTfAod4FV64A

The CAP Compliance team has contacted Mobility Freedom Ltd T/A My Mobility Shop on several occasions about claims that the circulation massager on offer “improves muscle function by stimulating nerves increasing the flow of blood helping to reduce PAIN and TIRED AND ACHING LEGS.  So, if you suffer with tired aching legs, joint pain or have mobility problems ... will help by improving circulation, guaranteed”.  These claims are in breach of the CAP Code.

CAP and the ASA have in the past looked into evidence submitted by the manufacturer of that circulation massager.  That evidence was insufficient to support claims that the product could enhance circulation.

Despite repeated requests for an assurance of future compliance Mobility Freedom Ltd T/A My Mobility Shop continues to feature the problem claims on its website. Because of Mobility Freedom T/A My Mobility Shop’s continued non-compliance, we took the decision to place its details on this section of the ASA website on 14 February 2012. These details shall remain in place until such time as Mobility Freedom T/A My Mobility Shop has removed or appropriately amended the claims on its website to ensure compliance with the CAP Code.
