Background Information
Misleading Advertising – Midland Van Conversions has failed to show that: they have over 40 yrs experience & that work featured in their online gallery is their own.
The ASA published an adjudication against Midland Van Conversions (www.midlandvanconversions.co.uk) on 5 July 2011. Midland Van Conversions claimed they had “over 40 years experience” and had a “gallery” section that featured photos of different van conversions.
The ASA was concerned that no evidence was provided to show that Midland Van Conversions had over 40 years experience, or that demonstrated that the conversions depicted in the Gallery had been carried out by Midland Van Conversions as the “gallery” section implied.
Although the ASA has adjudicated against Midland Van Conversions and has made several subsequent requests for an assurance of future compliance, Midland Van Conversions continues to feature problematic claims on its website. Because of Midland Van Conversions continued non-compliance we took the decision to place their details on this section of the ASA website on 15 December 2011. These details shall remain in place until such time as Midland Van Conversions has appropriately amended its website to ensure compliance with the ASA adjudication and the CAP Code.
