Background Information

Misleading Advertising – CarpetCleaning.org.uk has failed to show that the prices on its website, http://www.carpetcleaning.org.uk/, are genuine.

The ASA published an adjudication against CarpetCleaning.org.uk on 2 November 2011. The Carpet Cleaning website featured a price list for the various cleaning services offered and boxed text that stated "LAST CHANCE! GET YOUR £10 NOW!".

The ASA was concerned that the advertisers could not demonstrate prices listed on its website were genuine. The ASA also considered that information about a parking surcharge should have been made clear and that the £100 qualifying spend for a £10 offer should have been stated at the point that the offer was introduced to consumers on the homepage.

Although the ASA has adjudicated against CarpetCleaning.org.uk and has made several subsequent requests for an assurance of future compliance, CarpetCleaning.org.uk continues to feature problem claims on its website. Because of CarpetCleaning.org.uk’s continued non-compliance we took the decision to place their details on this section of the ASA website. These details shall remain in place until such time as CarpetCleaning.org.uk has appropriately amended its website to ensure compliance with the ASA adjudication and the CAP Code.
